Bad Breath is a condition where a person has a problem of consistent breath odor. There can be various reasons behind bad breath. The most common cause being diseased gums. Tooth decay at the roots of the teeth may cause abscesses in the gums creating foul-smelling pus, resulting in unpleasant odor. If there are even small holes in the teeth, these germs can multiply and cause foul odors.
Other causes which releases bad breath are chronic bronchitis, higher level of diabetes, nose throat and respiratory tract infection, digestive disorders like severe acidity. But majority of people suffer from bad breath for not maintaining proper dental hygiene. The actual odor is generally caused by food particles and dead cells in the mouth that collect bacteria from tongue or deep gum pockets. These bacteria produce volatile sulfur compounds like hydrogen sulfide which causes odor.

The first and foremost step to remove bad breath is to brush and floss your teeth twice daily which can destroy odor causing bacteria. Before trying any remedy, you must get your teeth examined by your doctor. Ignorance can lead to serious dental diseases. Here are very simple home remedies which you can consider to avoid bad breath.
• Drink both green as well as black tea. Both of them contain polyphenols which can stop the growth of bacteria causing bad breath.
• Clean your teeth with tongue scrapper to remove dead cells and food particles from the tongue.
• Drink enough fluids to keep the mouth moist. Eat lot of leafy and green vegetables and watery fruit to keep your digestive system healthy as we know indigestion causes bad breath.
• Crunchy fruits and vegetables like apples, carrots, and celery can remove bacteria and plaque from teeth.
• Try mouth wash containing plant oils, like tea tree oil, lemon oil, or peppermint oil.
• A most effective home remedy is use of fenugreek seeds. Tea is prepared mixing one teaspoon fenugreek seed in half liter of water simmering and reducing it in slow flame to 1 cup. Strain it and drink.
• There are some herbs or spice which you can chew to avoid bad breath. These include cloves, cardamoms, parsley and rosemary.
Those who suffer from bad breath should eat a well balanced diet containing nuts, seeds, grains, vegetables and fruits.
