Home Facial To Get Beautiful Skin
Many women do not have the time to take appointments and visit parlors for basic skin care routine like facial. Facial helps keep the skin free from various skin problems by thoroughly cleansing the skin pores and getting rid of accumulated oil, dirt, grime and dead skin cells.
While opinion remains divided on the necessity of a facial, the truth is that it is that one time of the month when a woman can pamper herself and bathe in the glory of a healthy and glowing skin.
For women who cannot afford the time and expense of going to a commercial parlor home facials are the best way to treat their skin. Wear comfortable clothes and make a list of all the things you will require for the facial. Keep all these things handy so that you don’t have to run around looking for them in the middle of the facial.
This will also help you relax better during the process of facial. Pull your hair away from the face and tie them in a pony tail or make a neat bun resting on your nape. Wear a hair band to keep the hair from falling on your forehead.
Cleansing
The first step of a facial is proper cleansing of the skin. The cleansing has to be performed irrespective of the use of makeup or not. If you are wearing makeup then cleanse the face twice to ensure proper removal of makeup. With light and gentle fingers massage cleansing milk on your face, neck and the back of your neck.
Also take care to cover the ear lobes with the cleanser. Leave the cleanser on the skin for about two minutes to give it time to penetrate the skin pores and draw out the dirt. Now use a soft facial tissue to remove the cleanser. With a wet cotton wool get rid of any traces of the cleanser.
Massaging
Wet your fingers with cold water and slowly and gently start massaging your face. Do not be rough on the skin and don’t forget to massage the skin. Begin the massage from the neck to the face in upward strokes. When you reach the cheeks switch over to outward strokes. Remember to keep your strokes light.
The idea of the massage is to get the facial muscles and the muscles in the neck to relax and receive proper circulation of blood. Massaging stimulates flow of blood which in turn gives the skin a healthy glow and bright complexion. Continue massaging for 10-15 minutes to get maximum benefits from the movement.
Make your face slightly wet with cold water. Take a dollop of cold cream or fruit cream and rub it all over your face and neck. If you have oily skin then use a mild lotion instead of cream. Give the face and neck another soothing massage using the cream. Use your fingertips for the massage. Don’t forget to massage the back of the neck as well since it has the maximum number of sore muscles. The movements of the fingertips should be upwards and circular.
Don’t massage your eyes. Eyes are very delicate in nature and any rough movement can cause permanent damage to them. Simply pat the eye lids and the skin under the eyes. Lightly stoke the forehead with nimble fingers. Use forefingers of both hands to massage the areas between the eye brows. Use outward strokes to massage the skin under the chin. This movement is excellent for sagging skin and double chin. Complete the entire massage in 10-12 minutes and wipe the face using a facial tissue to remove excess cream.
Application of Face Packs
The last and most important step in a facial is application of face pack. Your skin type will determine which face pack you will apply. A face pack which is suitable for all skin types is made using Fuller’s earth. If you have oily skin mix two tablespoons of fuller’s earth with adequate quantity of rose water. The resulting mixture should be of a spreadable consistency. If you have dry skin mix fuller’s earth with rose water and glycerin.
Those with normal skin can use paste of fuller’s earth and lemon juice. Stand in front of a mirror and start applying the paste on your face and neck. Use your palms for application of the pack; once the pack is evenly applied plop into a comfortable position for relaxing.
Many women prefer lying down on the bed. Put two pillows below your feet as this helps relax better. Close your eyes and cover them with cotton wool dipped in cold water or rose water. Place slices of cucumber on your eyes if you have dark circles. Cold water, rose water and cucumber are excellent for soothing tired eyes.
The minerals in face masks open closed pores of the skin. As the minerals penetrate the pores they draw out impurities and clean the skin from inside. They also help even the skin tone and tighten facial muscles. Hence it is important to give the face masks ample time to work their magic on the skin.
For oily skin leave the mask on for about 10 minutes. People with combination and dry skin should not leave the mask on for more than five minutes. Those with normal skin can leave the mask on till it dries.
Under no circumstances keep the mask if your skin feels stretched or irritated. Wash off the mask immediately using cold water. In case you are able to keep the mask on for the stipulated time then remove using cotton wool and lukewarm water. Be gentle and light while cleaning the mask.
Splash cold water or rose water on the face once you have cleaned off the mask. This will not only remove any traces of the mask but also help close the pores left open during the process of facial.
Dry your face and use astringent if you have oily skin, cream if you have very dry skin, a toner in case of combination skin and a light lotion if you have normal skin.
