Initially when you sow the seed, it will take some time to grow. This is the time when you should not disturb your lawn and allow it to grow at its own pace. If you step on the lawn at this time, the growth will get hampered. Keep on watering the ground as instructed by your garden expert and wait for few weeks to get it completely green.
Within a month or so, your lawn will be completely grown up and it will require a first mow by then. For the first mowing of your lawn, you should make the mower set in its highest setting, so that you get the best cut. This cut will help the lawn to grow in right length and proper health. Mowing has to be done on a regular basis, to give the lawn proper shape. The frequency of mowing will depend on the growth rate of the lawn.
Once your lawn is ready, you have to be serious to maintain this. Depending upon the season, you have to fix the frequency of watering the lawn. If it is too warm then your lawn might feel thirsty every day, whereas in winter days, you can skip watering for 1 or 2 days. When it is raining, you will not at all require watering the lawn for quite some days.
At the same time, you have to feed your lawn occasionally. A balanced fertilizer will help the lawn to grow more healthy and fast. You can find different types of fertilizers for your lawn, but you should check the instruction sheet before using this. Excessive amount of fertilizer can hamper the growth of your lawn.
Weeds can make disasters to your bright and beautiful lawn. You should keep a vigilant eye to find out growing weeds in your lawn. Take a normal garden fork to uproot the weed in totality, whenever you find a single one.
