Health Is Wealth
Working people have a single aim in life – to do well and make money; even tough it may be at the cost of one’s health. Late working hours and strenuous jobs bring in the money but, at the same time, they ruin health. The better the job, the greater the perks, the worse is the health! Is it then worth it? If there is no health, there can be no wealth. This is simply explained through an example.
Mr. Greenbucks spent all his waking hours at the office and came home to eat and sleep. He had no time for family, friends or exercise. Even if he felt ill, he would pop in some tablets and go to work. Until one day, he was completely exhausted and suffered a cardiac arrest. Thereafter, he was strongly advised that either he cuts down his pace or he lives for only a few more years. The options before Mr. Greenbucks were two – He could continue working at his pace, earn lots of money and live a few more years; or, he could cut his pace, earn a little less, and be around to enjoy life.
This situation was a double sided sword for him. Option 1 gave him wealth but no health. Option 2 gave him health but less wealth.
Hence, what is better? If you are not healthy, you cannot work and therefore you cannot earn (and become wealthy). Health becomes the foundation for everything. Being healthy means being able to do whatever one wishes to do without any restrictions. But, ill health brings with it a host of problems that retard your lifestyle and control the activities that you can indulge in.
No medical problem should be put aside and the smallest of ailments should be checked by a doctor – as it is often these little ailments that grow into major health deterrents.
Maintaining one’s health is a personal commitment to oneself as no one else can do that for you. You must remind yourself that your life is yours to live, but can be lived only if health is on your side.
