Headache Symptoms
Headache is a severe health related problems, which is very disturbing for an individual. An individual suffering from headache faces lot of discomfort below the forehead and scalp. Some discomfort may also be felt behind eyes.
In most of the cases, muscle-tension headache is the major cause. Headache may also occur due to head injury, fever, sinusitis, and viral infection.
In most of the cases headache occurs alone. However, in some cases, headache may occur along with some other symptoms. Other symptoms which may occur along with headache are blurred vision, fever, vomiting, nausea, neck stiffness, neck pain and increase in sensitivity to noise or light.
Serious cases of headache may produce symptoms such as difficulty in walking, confusion, excessive sleepiness and difficulty in speaking.
Head is the area where pain occurs in case of headache. Pain may occur above the ears or eyes, at the backside of upper portion of the neck or at the rear of head.
Headache may be classified into primary headache or secondary headache. In case of primary headache, other diseases have no role to play. However, secondary headaches have association with other diseases, whether major or minor.
Tension headache, migraine headache and cluster headache come under primary headaches. Tension headache is very common form of primary headache. This kind of headache is seen mostly in women as against men. In case of migraine headache, both adults and children are affected.
In most of the cases, migraine headache goes undiagnosed. In certain cases, it is also mistaken as tension headache. Cluster headache is very rarely found in people. Men are mostly affected by cluster headache.
The major causes of secondary headache include stroke, brain tumor, and meningitis. All these diseases are life threatening and may be very painful. An individual may face a disorder of mixed headache where there may be a combination of primary headache and secondary headache, thus triggering migraine.
Thus, before taking the treatment of headache, it is very important for an individual to determine the severity and type of headache, so that the health of the patient can be improved in an effective manner.
