Handling Kids Who Are Fussy Eaters
Most kids are very fussy eaters, if they dont like what they see they just wont put it in their mouth. Otherwise they just eat one type of food all the time mostly junk food.
But you know better about the nutritional needs of your child and his requirement for a healthy growth. Here are few tricks that you can use to coax your child to eat his food.
Do not bribe your child to eat the vegetables: Bribing is the best technique used by parents to coax their child to eat the greens and other foodstuffs. Its usually an extra TV time or extra serving of desert to coax your child to eat that food he hates but is very useful for him.
But most doctors agree that bribing your child for eating anything will just result in him hating that food for life and its worse than force feeding them. Your kids will mirror your habits, so if you want them to eat healthy without being forced, then you should eat the same food and actually enjoy it.
Keeping cookies and chocolates out of reach: This is a mistake done by almost every parent. They tend to keep cookies and chocolates at the highest point in the house in the fanciest jars and forbid the kids from eating them. Kids from all over the world have one thing in common, you tell them no they hear it as yes and will immediately want this. Chances are high if they are treated like any other food item your child will eat it in lesser quantity. If you thinking reverse psychology works with them then use it for the food that you know he wont like.
Do not limit your child to kid’s food: True, there are few ingredients that should be given in a limited amount to your child, but most of these ingredients are harmful for you too when they are eaten in excess. Do not separate the kids meals from your meals and during the mealtime see to it that your child and you have the same food.Family meal times are not only beneficial to improve your child’s diet, but also reconnect with your family and talk.
Try try till he eats: If he doesnt eat it the first time, try again and again, mainly put up a rule at home that he wont say no to the food without at least tasting it once. You can recook the vegetables in different styles and add tastes that he liked. Do nor force feed them, but once they at least taste it once there are chances they will definitely like it.
