Hair Care Essentials
Long or short;straight, wavy or curly – hair has been the crowning glory for men and women alike. We would do anything to have a perfect hair day, everyday.
Now before you go empty your wallets on products that claim to ‘flush out’ your dandruff, or ‘arrange the hair like tiles’ to bring out the luster and my all time favorite ‘magically seal’ the split ends together; take two seconds to know more about your hair. A little extra knowledge does no harm.
Especially if the results are favorable to you. Out of the hundreds of hair that you lose daily pick up one and observe it closely.
You’ll notice a small bulge in the end of it. This is the hair follicle, it is placed in a bulb like structure, inside our skin. This bulb is formed by actively growing cells. These cells produce long, fine and cylindrical shaped hair fibers. These bulbs also have melanin that gives color to our hair.
This is the only live part of our hair. The part of our hair seen above the skin is called shaft. This is mainly made up of dead cells that turn into keratin and binding material, together with small amounts of water. This explains why we do not feel any pain when we cut our hair.
With a little extra care, you can have healthy thick hair too. Wash your hair regularly. A good shampoo and conditioner is a must for all hair types. Mainly never apply your conditioner or any other add on’s directly to your scalp. Avoid excessive use of hair appliances and hair products, they might just damage it faster.
Our hair produces oil naturally in form of sebum, so oiling your hair once a week will be enough , unless your hair is dry and brittle. Remember, split ends do not heal themselves they have to be trimmed away.
Knowing basic essential of our hair makes it easier for us to look after it better. Along with external hair products our hair requires nutrition and good nutrition comes from healthy food. Proteins, fruits, vegetables all is a big yes.
Lack of sleep not only result in dark circles around your eyes, it also causes our hair to look limp and dull. Simple health care can bring out that long, thick and lustrous hair you always wanted without thinning your wallet.
