Good Parenting Skills: Daddy’s Little Girl
Fathers are the first men in their daughter’s lives. While the dads remain the super heroes for their daughter forever, however, it is not a good idea to be too protective about your daughter.
You might be just playing the role of a good parent, the end result could be a surprise negative.
You have to realize that making your daughter independent is more important when it comes to facing life on the long run.Love your daughter, but do not shy away from toughening her up when required.
The rest of the world will offer your little girl more pessimistic advices, however, now it is left to you to train her to face the big bad world. Let her know that she is not a ‘sweet little helpless thing’, who cannot fend for herself. Fathers are the best when it comes to allowing their little girls to grow-up the though way.
Having to be a super-hero is fine, but make sure your daughter knows how to be independent as well. Make sure she is not emotionally needy and always running up to you for solutions. Show her that she needs to make her principles and stick to them when things get murky.
At their growing-up age, daughters often tend to share a rather ‘love-hate’ relationship with their mothers. It is at these spaces and times that being a dad helps. You can help make peace between the two, at the same time allowing your daughter to understand the facts of life. Daughters tend to listen to their fathers more, as they remain their real-life heroes forever.
When it comes to bonding, never offer her help in a situation that you know might re-occur when you are not around. Let her face her problems and seek solutions; however, remaining in the background the entire time like a safety-net. Let your daughter indulge in to some-sort of sport, as this gives them the image of a more powerful-self.
While the usual trend of parenting requires the parents to be teachers and children to learn from them; it could be the other way round too. Try learning a skill or a sport from your daughter, as this could help you bond well and allowing her to build her self-confidence at the same time.
As dads are the first ones to teach their daughters how to ride their first bi-cycle and the first ones they might confess about your first love, there appears a lot of trust to and fro. Just remember, when your daughter is all set to get married, it is a strong and a confidant woman you are giving away.
