Body scrubs contain granular substances along with special liquids that contain essential oils. The main purpose of a body scrub is to exfoliate, cleanse and hydrate the skin by eliminating dead cells from the surface of the skin and moisturizing it. Usually the base of the scrub is made from Epson Salt, Dead Sea Salt, Baking Soda or Sugar and is mixed with essential oils, massage oil, milk, honey or other milk based products.

The body scrubs are used for improving the blood circulation in the body, stimulating our metabolic system as well as in increasing the ability of the body to carry the waste products for removal from the body. It also helps with various issues related to skin care and makes it healthy, soft and vibrant.

Preparing For Scrubbing

Body scrubs are made using a variety of bases and its use depends on one’s health condition. For instance, people suffering from high blood pressure should avoid the use of scrubs containing salt whereas diabetics should avoid using sugar and honey scrubs as they can raise the blood sugar level. Ask your massage therapist about the body scrub that they are going to use and whether it would be suitable for you. Before the treating, do not shave any of the body parts such as legs or arms.

Getting Scrubbed

Body scrubbing can be done either in a wet room where the table can be made wet or in a typical dry massage room. Before the body scrub, you will need to undress completely. It is up to you to protect your personal dignity will sheets, towels or disposable undergarments. Once the scrub treatment is complete, the therapist will remove the unabsorbed scrub on the body. Alternatively, he / she may ask you to take a shower to remove the same. Next, a session follows which is meant to moisturize the skin.

Enjoying the Scrub

You can instantly notice the difference in the skin once you take a scrubbing session. After the session, avoid activities such as swimming at a beach since the sunlight and sand can affect the skin. Also, ask you therapist about the after effects of the oils used in the scrub and whether you need to take any precautions.

Scrubbing is a pampering experience that cannot be compared with anything else, especially if you combine it with a therapeutic massage. Have A Great Time!
