    Foods that Lower Cholesterol

    foods-that-lower-cholesteroAll cholesterol is not bad for our health. There are mainly two types of cholesterol, HDL or good cholesterol and LDL that is bad cholesterol. The purpose of good food is to increase HDL cholesterol level. There are some foods that help to lower cholesterol level naturally. If we can stick to the right kind of diet, they can work miracles to drop cholesterol level from high level to safe level.

    •    Eat breakfasts that are rich in fibers like oatmeal, fruits, whole grain muffins and the like. Check the nutrition level on cereal box. The best effective cereals are oat bran and rice bran.

    •    Include 5 serving of fruit and vegetables in your daily meal. Eat raw vegetables and fiber rich food in the form of salad. Drinking soups containing leafy vegetables is a good way to lower the cholesterol level. Prefer to eat whole and skinned fruit, instead of juice because juice removes the fiber. The high fiber soaks all the excess cholesterol like a sponge.

    •    Eat whole grain breads, muffins and crackers.

    •    Include soy protein and beans in your meals. They are very effective in lowering cholesterol level as they contain Vitamin E.

    •    Eat garlic. Garlic makes blood thinner and decreases the cholesterol level and risk of blood clotting in arteries. In the same way, raw onions also work.

    •    Vegetables like carrot, cauliflower, beans, peas, sprouts are good. Green and black tea plays an effective role in lowering cholesterol level. Eating nuts in small quantity every day can also help a lot in this respect. Fenugreek and turmeric are good for the heart. So add them in maximum dishes possible.

    •    Fats are necessary ingredient in our daily lives, but you must stick to unsaturated fats which are obtained from plants, vegetables, seeds and are very effective in lowering cholesterol. Oils derived from sunflower, soybean, and olive oils are ideal for cooking meals.

    A little lifestyle change, regular exercise, good eating habits, especially cutting down on junk food can help you to lower your cholesterol level and keep you healthy without medication.
