Food Cravings – 4 Simple Ways To Stop It
Oh you’ve seen your favorite sweet or crunchy potato chips on display or even the smell of fast food, what do you do?
Your uncontrollable craving towards that food makes you stop by and pick it up even if you are absolutely full and not exactly feeling ‘hungry’.
This does give you pleasure but along with that it also increases your chances of suffering from diabetes (due to a rise in blood sugar levels), high blood pressure (due to foods which are high in sodium) and obesity. Besides, it also ends up making you feel sluggish, tired, lazy and low on energy despite eating so much.
In the end, you regret why you ever gave in to your craving. May be you could stop giving into your cravings by following a ‘4 point program’ or rather ‘the 4 simple ways’ that can help you to stop your craving.
Firstly, prepare your own food. It is pretty easy to get fast food and junk food while you are on the run. Shop at places where you would find healthy food stuffs rather than these unhealthy foods. Cooking your own meals would make you more conscious of your diet as you are aware of the ingredients you put in and their nutritional value.
Secondly, keep a healthy diet in place. Do not deprive your body of the nutrients it needs. Going on crash diets to shed those extra pounds you’ve gained would make you feel even hungrier. Maintain a proper time for your meals. This would also entail keeping in mind the time required for the proper digestion of food. Make it a point to have at least 5 small meals during the day rather than over-eating in 2 meals.
Thirdly, give up on bland foods. Depriving your tongue of tasty food won’t do you good. This will lead to a build up on your craving for those tongue-satisfying, tasty and delicious foods. You could try finding healthier and tastier alternatives to the junk food you love through your cooking.
Fourthly, keep yourself busy. Indulge yourself in a lot of activities. Go out for a walk. Join a gym. Keep yourself busy with some or the other thing at hand. This leaves you less time to think about those foods you don’t really need.
