In the present time when the population of the world is rising at an alarming rate, couples in all parts of the globe are imposing a restriction on the number of kinds that they have. Due to this, birth control is the need of the hour, particularly for the developing and underdeveloped countries.
However, the truth is that a large number of people are still unaware of the different techniques of conception. What most of us don’t realize is that pregnancy can be caused even from a single act of sexual intercourse or the fact that the fluid that appears on the top of the penis when one is excited also contains sperms which can lead to pregnancy. A woman can get pregnant whenever she is ovulating and ovulation can even occur during the woman’s menstruation period.
The most effective method of contraception is the modern contraceptive pill which contains synthetic progesterone and oestrogen which alter the normal menstruation and does not allow ovulation to occur. In the past, most of the women were unwilling to take the contraceptive tablets due to the number of side effects that were reported. However, with modern research most of these side effects have been eliminated and thus, these pills have been made safe.
Contraceptive pills have been proved to be almost 99 percent reliable when taken regularly for a specified number of days within the woman’s 28 day cycle. These pills are not too expensive as well. Some women experience certain side effects like changes in the menstrual flow and nausea. Any women over the age of 40 should not take these pills. In fact, according to research, the use of these pills can ever reduce the risk of diseases such as breast cancer.
Besides these, there are other methods of contraception as well that many people follow. However, they are not considered to be too effective. For instance, breast feeding is known to postpone ovulation, due to which most women do not have the chance of getting pregnant at least for six months after the birth of the child. Douching is another contraception technique but is considered unsafe as sperms might have already entered into the uterus.
Withdrawal of the penis from the vagina before ejaculation is also considered as a method of contraception but it is not reliable as sperms are released even before ejaculation. Not only this, many men face difficulty in withdrawing when they are at the peak of sexual excitement.
