    Eat Fiber-Rich Food To Remain Healthy

    fiberrichfood1Fiber is the part of plant that we find indigestible. Only plant foods can provide us fiber in our diet and not foods from animal.

    Fiber has been characterized as a type of carbohydrate existing in plant foods, grains, fruits and vegetables.

    Doctors recommend consumption of food containing fiber each day. Fiber-rich food has numerous health benefits. Person eating fiber-rich food can not suffer constipation and hemorrhoids.

    According to a research consumption of food rich in fiber for last many years can reduce the risk of certain types of cancer. Fiber-rich food can also helps regulate and maintain the level of blood sugar besides lowering the level of cholesterol. However, excess amount of fiber is not recommended as it may cause gas pains and diarrhea.

    Initially add little amount of fiber-rich food to your diet and then gradually increase the amount in your daily diet. This will allow time to your stomach for being adjusted to the modification in diet .

    In case you have added too much fiber to your diet in the beginning you may experience bloating, gas and diarrhea. However, no everybody can have these problems.

    If you are taking fiber-rich food make sure that you are taking plenty of water and other fluids daily.

    Fresh fruits, vegetables, breads and grains contain high amount of fiber. In addition to this popcorn, nuts and other snacks have abundance of fiber.

    Fiber can be of two types-soluble and insoluble. You can get soluble fiber by eating barley, beans and peas. Oats, vegetables and some foods also contain soluble fiber.  Soluble fiber can look  like a gel with its dissolution in water.

    Insoluble fiber can exist in vegetables. The whole grains also contain high amount of insoluble fiber. Both the types of fiber can be available in most of the foods. Insoluble fiber can be good in controlling irregular bowel movement. It helps increase the stool bulk by promoting the movement of material through digestive system thus solving the problem of constipation.

    Most of the people eat only 10 to 20 grams of fiber daily. Healthy persons eating small amount of fiber in their diet can get benefit from increasing the amount of fiber upto 35 grams daily. The recommendation for the amount of fiber can made in accordance with your calorie intake.
