Easy Chocolate Desserts for Kids
Children love chocolate, and desserts that have chocolate. They can have chocolate for every meal, if only given a chance. Get them to make interesting desserts by using chocolate in different ways. All the recipes given below are easy to make and can even be done without adult supervision as they do not involve any direct cooking. However, the microwave needs to be used.
1 bar of caramel chocolate (the sticky gooey variety)
1 cup of plain cornflakes
Muffin baking tray or paper cases
Powdered sugar / icing sugar for dusting
Place the chocolate in a microwave bowl and heat till the chocolate melts. Stir in the cornflakes so that they start sticking together with the chocolate. Place a large spoonful into the muffin tray or individual paper cases, and sprinkle some powdered sugar on top. Place in the refrigerator for 2 hours until the chocolate becomes solid again. Remove and eat a crunchy treat.
6 plain pre baked tartlets (small pastry tart shells/ cases)
1 bar of plain chocolate
½ cup assorted nuts (crushed to small pieces)
½ cup whipped cream
Place chocolate in a microwave bowl and heat for 30-40 seconds until it has melted. Remove from microwave and add the chopped nuts. Mix well and place spoonfuls into the tart shells. Cover with whipped cream and add chocolate sprinkles. Place in refrigerator for one hour for the chocolate to set.
Chocolate Ice Cream Pudding
½ cup chocolate ice cream
½ cup vanilla ice cream
2 chocolate chip biscuits
2 tbs chocolate sauce
Mix the vanilla and chocolate ice creams so that it looks like a swirly choco-vanilla ice cream. In another serving bowl, make a base of crushed chocolate chip biscuits. Add the choco-vailla ice cream and pour chocolate sauce over it. Serve immediately. If kept for some time, the biscuits will become soggy.
