Childhood Obesity: Make Healthy Lifestyle As A Part Of Your Family Affair
Childhood obesity which occurs due to overeating and little physical activities has emerged as a major threat to health of many children these days.
The solution lies in consumption of healthier and nutritious foods, avoidance of junk foods and increase in the physical exercises and activities.
You cannot expect your child to adopt healthy eating habits and perform physical exercises alone; rather you and all other members of your family must adopt healthy lifestyle.
Remember that all members of your family including your child can avoid obesity if you make healthy eating habits and exercises as your family affairs.
Do not single out your child if he or she is facing obesity; rather motivate all your family members to improve lifestyle and adopt healthy habits.
Initially make minor changes in lifestyle of your family. Turn off the television at the time of dinner. Prefer milk or water to soda. Go for a stroll after dinner at least once a week.
Encourage each and every member of your family to individually set practical, realistic and measurable goals before determining combined objectives of your family.
For instance, your child may be encouraged to set goal for including fruit in afternoon snacks. You may be setting goal for taking a brisk walk thrice a week.
Your family’s goal may be to avoid or minimize consumption of meals comprising junk and fast-food once a month.
You and your family members may be tempted to go back to previous habits under certain circumstances.
So, be mentally prepared to face all circumstances so as to restrain yourself and your family members from falling back to unhealthy habits.
For instance, if you were habitual of eating popcorn at the cinema hall, bring money which can only be enough for entry into the cinema hall. However, if you are feeling like eating popcorn make sure that you will be sharing a small carton of it with your child instead of separately ordering treats for him or her.
