Being a parent is one of the best experiences of one’s life. From the moment it’s announced that a baby is going to arrive and when the baby is in your arms nothing can be more fulfilling and beautiful.

But every best thing comes with certain challenges.

Parenting itself is a big challenge in itself and being a responsible parent is a matter of good skills. Right from understanding a child’s moods, needs and being patient with the same along with responding to daily chores and work pressures is not at all a simple task.

Yet we love to take this challenge willingly as being a parent is one of the most satisfying roles to play; it teaches us to be a responsible human being.

The challenges and stress for the single parent increases manifold as what two can do together for the child has to be done single handedly. The single parent has to change roles accordingly and be both mother and father to the child.

No parent wants the child to feel deprived of any happiness and hence the role reversal with need becomes very important. Major decisions for the child, juggling work and home to cater to every need of the child, financial security all has to be done by the single parent alone.

But no challenge can be big enough in front of a parent child bonding. The tasks may be difficult but not impossible to carry out successfully. What the single parent must remember is to take care of him or herself first.

One should put aside some time for oneself to indulge in relaxing activities. Good friends circle help to relive the pressure simply by talking or by depending for any help if the need arises.

Involving kids in the daily chores not only makes them responsible human beings but also give them more scope to bond more with the parent. They begin to understand the hardships their parent goes through and eventually become less of a child and more of a friend to the single parent.

One shouldn’t blame oneself for situations that led to being single; rather enjoy the companionship with the children to grow together.

Accepting the situation and accommodating oneself to it ensures a healthy mental condition which further helps the child to accept the situation and move forward in life.
