Caffeine – Its Attraction and Effects
Scientifically, known as a trimethylxanthine, caffeine’s incomparable fame as stimulating brew in the form of coffee, tea, energy drinks or tablets is universal. Caffeine has many good and bad effects on the body. It is good when consumed judiciously but excess of anything, as they say, is bad. One sure thing about this most preferred drug of choice is that it has the whole world relying on it for its stimulating effects.
A strong cup of coffee or any other drink or tablet containing caffeine can enhance attentiveness, improve stamina, response period and vigor levels. Caffeine kick starts the central nervous system (CNS) which, in return, propels the blood forcefully towards muscles. It is believed that caffeine can cause the muscle cells to use comparatively superior quantity of fat than used under ordinary circumstances.
Caffeine helps in fat reduction as it suppresses appetite. Many fat reducing supplements available in the market contain caffeine. Caffeine can also enhance mental accuracy in everyday jobs as well as in performing complex tasks like logical and mathematical analysis and difficult arithmetic.
There are people who are unable to start their day unless they have a strong cup of coffee followed by repeated cups of coffee during the day. It is because caffeine is a very light form of drug and works on same lines as other deadly drugs like amphetamines.
When the intake of caffeine is stopped abruptly, withdrawal symptoms can occur to those who are addict to its excessive use. Being a stimulant, it should not be consumed right before going to bed as it can cause problems in falling asleep or hamper sound sleep whole night.
Vomiting, nervousness, lethargy, exhaustion, and bad temper are some of the bad effects the people addicted to caffeine are likely to suffer. Even low enthusiasm, despair and poor attention levels have also been observed in caffeine addicts, though only in extreme cases.
Use of caffeine can prove to be beneficial if consumed in limits. We can use its stimulating qualities to our advantage while keeping the bad effects at bay as long as we don’t succumb to it addictive charms.
