Beware Of Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is considered as one of the major causes behind death of women all over the world. Considering the fatality of this disease, it is essential for the women to know about its warning signs.
The survival of women with breast cancer depends largely on its early-stage diagnosis and treatment. Therefore it is very essential for the women to go for self examination right from the age of 20 every month so as to reduce the risk of this fatal disease.
What are the warning signs?
Breast lumps: Not all the lumps or growth can be cancerous. However, go to your doctor for medical check up in case you notice or feel presence of any lump in your breast. Even a thick knot in the breast tissue can be malignant.
See a doctor if you notice bloody or clear liquid suddenly coming out of your breast nipples.
Any swelling, redness and darkness that may occur in breast can also be considered as warning for the possible breast cancer.
You may notice change in your breast size, shape and even contour. This change may show sign for breast cancer.
The retraction or indentation of the breast nipples can also indicate breast cancer.
The breast skin may also turn flat or dimple, giving warning for breast cancer.
Itchiness, scaly rashness or soreness in breast nipple and persistent pain in breast may also be among early warning signals for breast cancer.
How to conduct self examination?
Examine your breasts on your own once a month especially after your period ends. Be cautious if your periods are not regular.
For conducting self-examination you must lie down so that your breast tissue can spread evenly making you conveniently detect any changes taking place in your breast.
Begin with right breast while you lie down on your back. Place right arm over head and make a circular movement of your left hand over your right breast to check any abnormality. Do this with the help finger pads of your left hand.
Now check your left breast with the help of right harm while keeping your left arm over head.
Place a mirror in front of you while you are on standing position and examine your breasts to identify any abnormal sign in your breast. Do this by putting your arms on your hip and then head. Also check your breast for any abnormality by bending forward and putting your hands on your hips.
