Benefits Of Organic Food
There is lot of debate going on regarding the benefits and drawbacks of organic food. There is no doubt that organic markets are growing steadily and in past few years many people have converted to organic food. Many nutritionist believe that there are obviously compelling reasons to convert to organic food.
Most health experts believe that organic food is completely natural and pure. Not only this, natural foods taste better, and are highly nutritious. And most importantly, they are safe for our health. They claim that nutrients present in organic food are far more than conventional food. There are numerous physical, mental and emotional benefits of eating organic food. Some of them include:
1. Studies have found that organic foods have higher nutrient levels than non-organic foods. In this study it was found that mineral content of organic apples, potato, pear and sweet corn were much more than commercial varieties. Chromium, the deficiency of which is associated with diabetes, is found in organic food in much higher levels. Likewise, Selenium an antioxidant, which is protective against heart disease, is found in organic food in greater quantity than non-organic food. Along with these calcium, Lithium, Magnesium and other such nutrients are found in much higher quantities in organic food.
2. One main benefit of converting to organic food is that it is environment Friendly. The way we are exploiting our mother earth can be disastrous to our future generation. The production and usage of organic food in wide scale can help to sustain and preserve the ecological balance and bio-system of the earth. Less energy will be consumed and environment will be less polluted.
3. The accumulation of pesticides in non-organic food is causing great concern for our health. Exposure to pesticides is creating health hazards. Different studies conducted on this regard shows that those who are fed on commercial food possess alarming level of pesticides, while people consuming organic food have no such chemicals in their blood. These pesticides increase the risk of cancer and other serious diseases.
4. Organic farming is beneficial for farmers also. It has been observed that constant exposure to chemical fertilizers and pesticides are affecting the farmer’s health condition. Their respiratory system, nervous system, skin and eyes are getting affected.
By eating organic food, drinking pure water and keeping a watch over pollution, we can live a better and healthy life.
