Beat Loneliness Blues
We all understand the importance if friends in our lives. Sadly, many people don’t have enough friends and are lonely despite knowing a lot of people.
There are many people looking for new friends to beat their loneliness blues and make life exciting.
If you are one such person then here are a few tips on how to increase your circle of friends.
A good way of meeting people and making friends is by enrolling for a hobby class. It can be anything from cooking to gardening, music to dance, from gym to yoga. The double advantage of taking a hobby class is that you will not only learn something but also come across like-minded people.
If you are inclined towards social work then join a social group or a community. You can join a choir, an activity group, a youth association, a church club, a reading club, volunteer at old age homes or any other such places where you will not only do your bit for the society but also make friends with similar interests.
Re-connect with old friends, ex-classmates and ex-colleagues. Doing so will not only help you re-live good memories but also help revive old relationships and beat the loneliness pangs. There will be lots to talk about as you catch up on their latest news and gossip. You needn’t even meet them in person; a simple phone call will do enough to lift your spirits.
Get yourself a pet. Keeping a pet doesn’t compare to human company but a pet can do wonders to change your mood. A pet will also give you company and drive away your loneliness. As you care for the pet you will feel responsible for another living creature and this will help you come out of bouts of sadness. And who knows a walk in the park with your pet might help you strike a conversation with other pet owners.
Listening to music and watching re-runs of your favorite television shows will not help you. To overcome any pangs of loneliness you need to get moving and get out. Don’t be shy to approach people you come across in your daily life. From your office co-worker to the person who travels daily with you on the bus; anyone can be your potential best friend.
