Anger Management Skills
Anger is one of the negative emotions which has widespread bad effects and can take serious negative turns.
Anger is something which happens when one feels sudden bout of negativity, aggression and retaliation towards someone or something due to the perception of being wronged, provoked or being harmed.
The person feeling anger goes through rapid physical as well as mental reactions which bring enough discomfort to the individual and he tries to abate the feelings by resorting to aggression which is either verbal or physical.
Feelings of anger are characterized by increased heart rate, blood pressure, hormonal flow of adrenaline and nor adrenaline which results in overt manifestations like the person’s change in facial expressions, gritting of teeth, redness all which defines a sort of fight or flight response. Anger is a temporary state which results in overstatement of a situation unrealistically due to a possible threat or hurt to the person mentally or physically.
Sometimes anger may be justified yet those who are prone to anger outbursts fall prey to anger most of the time in an unjustified manner. They do something either to harm themselves or others or even break or destroy things for which they have to repent later. Frequent outbursts of anger may make one isolated and avoided by other people and it may affect his personal as well as professional relations.
Therefore it’s best to try and control anger by following certain steps called anger management. It may seem quite difficult to control anger but practice makes one perfect so practicing to try and control anger can eventually help one to control anger to a great extent.
For doing anger management one must try and manage anger even before it surfaces by trying to find out the underlying cause for anger and also to introspect within oneself to judge one’s particular ways of reaction. One can practice deep breathing and meditation which calms the mind thereby controlling anger.
Building self esteem and confidence makes one better equipped to do anger management. Once anger sets in it is best to avoid the situation, divert oneself, do deep breathing, get in touch with things or people one loves and trying to laugh anger out can be good anger management skills. Replacing feelings of revenge with forgiveness and trying to analyze the reason of anger helps one to manage anger to a great extent.
