Skin treatment called Ambulatory phlebectomy is performed for the skin problems on the legs. The exact position is the surface of the legs from where the veins are removed. In this local anaesthesia is required. The treatment is specifically done for the removal of small veins and varicose, individual ones from the legs along with some tits and pits of skin portions or punctures. It is done using a needle which is quite small in size and is around 1 mm only. This is also called as skin incisions which are used with a phelebectomy hook for removing the skin punctures.
Right after the treatment the affected portion requires some king of pressure so the patient is required to cover the opening using a bandage or he can even wear socks for that matter. No such time is involved to carry out the treatment process but healing the problem from within might take more time. So to get best results its better to give a covering to the wound and get it bandaged properly.
Do not tend to open you bandage at least for one or two weeks. It is necessary to keep it over at least till that amount of time. Proper flow of blood is required for the body and after the treatment it among the most essential activities. Therefore some methods are performed to ensure the proper flow of blood in the vein which would in turn prevent other common problems like swelling around the portions which are treated and even blood clotting. Clotting is mostly expected after the treatment. It is quite possible that person might get allergy to local anaesthetics so he or she should take care of all the possible things and precautions which are generally given by the doctor before and even after the performance of the treatment.
How is the treatment performed exactly?
1) The basic purpose is to insert the medication inside the body for which either a needle is used or an incision. Both can create a space like a cut on the skin through which is medicin is to be inserted. This cut has to be around 1mm. The needle is also used along with the phlebectomy hook for affecting the veins directly.
2) The leg is targeted by a kind of hook which is inserted afterwards in the micro incision.
3) The portion or the area or actually the vein is removed with the use of the incision along with the use of the hook.
4) The area is given a covering with a bandage which needs to be kept for sometimes say at lease a week.
5) After the bandage most of the problems related to the side effects are minimized. It gives proper healing to the affected portion by reducing feelings of dicomfort and pain and even swelling which is very often witnessed in few severe cases.
The patient needs to be careful after treatment. Thought the doctor would permit him to leave the place and get back to work within the next one day. But do not neglet the special attention which is to be given within this particular period of time. The patient has to keep his leg in the elevated postion. It is often recommended by the doctor that after the treatment the person sould try to wear supportive socks or stockings at least for a weeks time to avoid harmful effects or even side effects.
Common side effects of the treatment:
1) It helps in reducing all the problems and even scarring which is categorized as a side effect only. The patient would not have to suffer through the problem of scars etc on the areas around the treated area.
2) Local anaesthesia is used to perform the treatment so some kind of regular side effects can be seen.
3 ) Temprory pigmentation of the skin can be seen somethimes but this is specially around the varicose vein only and is reduced quite early.
The patient would stick to the advice of his/her doctor regarding the precautions and care to be taken before and after the treatment it is an assurance 80% of the side effects and problems would be resolved and he/she would be able to experience effective results within a short span of time.
