Addicted to Sex
Most people love to believe and flaunt the fact that they have a very high sex drive, and enjoy routine sexual activity.
This is common locker talk amongst men. It is of great interest to them to exchange stories about their sexual exploits, and they just love bragging about them.
Although you may be proud of it, an unhealthy leaning towards sex could just spell the beginning of an addiction to it – something that might just require special attention. Addiction to sex could mean the end of a fruitful relationship you enjoy, or the last straw to your marriage.
When you are addicted to sex, you just cannot help yourself, and need to exhibit your sexual impulses even in social situations. It almost starts to affect your normal behaviour.
Aspects of sexual addiction also include abnormal rates of interest in pornography and masturbation. In severe cases, the person can just not help themselves in the company of people of the opposite sex. It can lead to problems like sexually transmitted diseases as well.
Sexual addiction can be attributed to genetic factors, although it is ont very common. People who have security issues, or even low self esteem can sometimes get hooked to this problem. It can also be the fall out of dealing with too much stress.
People who are addicted to sex are normally not satisfied with the amount of sex they have despite the fact that they are sexually very active. They are likely to have multiple partners. They are also likely to be hooked to pornography and masturbation. They will also have issues with intimacy due to the numbers of sexual partners they change.
Addicts are likely to be actively on the look out for ways to find themselves partners and chances to satisfy their sexual urges.
Once you feel that you have the addiction, try and set yourself a period where you will not engage in any sexual activity. Try and curb your desires and be the master of them, not the slave. This will be able to tell you how severe your addiction is, and if you can do something about it.
Channelise your energy. This needs to be both at the mental and physical level. Look for some strenuous activity which will take up a lot of your time and energy. Spend a lot of time in the company of your family. Also take up some form which will set your mind some discipline.
Try and find out the cause for your addiction. This will help you get to the root of the problem and cure it. When all fails, it is best to get professional assistance.
