acupunctureAcupuncture is almost 3500 years old Chinese healing system based on the belief that vital energy force flows around the body through 12 key channels. Within these 12 key channels, there are at least 365 acupuncture points. If these get blocked, they prevent the flow of this vital energy which causes deterioration of our health.

Acupuncture is highly effective tool in treating all kind of addiction, including smoking addiction. Though this method of treatment is not yet very popular among the people who are willing to quit but undoubtedly, it is a very effective and reliable method for those wants to quit smoking, without leaving any side effects.

The application of acupuncture is done by insertion of very fine and small needles of different sizes and length into special points on the skin to stimulate that particular area of the body and left on the skin for up to 20 minutes. For treating smoking cessation, needles are particularly inserted in areas that can effect the energy flow to lungs, mouth, respiratory system and the parts of the brain that generate the craving for smoking. Acupuncture treatment is not at all painful. Patient only feels some pricking sensation when the needles are inserted in the skin.  This technique releases some chemicals named endorphins which provide relief to the patient.

After the first session, patients generally cough up phlegm throughout the week as the body starts reacting to life without smoking, and because of this the phlegm in the lungs starts loosening.

It is beneficial to have a follow up session after one week of the first session to assess the progress. If needed, an added session should be carried out. It has been observed that many heavy smokers have successfully quit this habit after one or two acupuncture sessions.

Acupuncture is the best treatment for heavy smokers, who wants to quit this addiction. Acupuncture can deal very effectively with nicotine withdrawal side effect symptoms like craving, anxiety and depression. With improved blood circulation and de-congestion of lungs, patient’s health condition improves and he feels optimistic and positive due to the release of natural anti-depressants by the brain.

If you decide to try acupuncture therapy for quitting smoking habit, take care that you choose an authentic person for this treatment.
