deep-acne-scar-300x291Acne vulgaris is the most common skin disease that exists in the world. There are almost 70 per cent of people who would have suffered from different forms of acne at some point in their life. Acne is a kind of a skin problem, which usually occurs with the deposition of oil and dead skin on the surface, which clogs the pores and helps the bacteria to expand.

Acne is common among the teens and those in their early twenties. Some recent studies suggest that acne vulgaris can cause psychic trauma among this age group. The appearance of acne leads to a decrease in the self esteem of the individual, which gives rise to various problems. The most adversely affected is the social life of an individual.

On an average around 90 per cent of acne appears on the face, 60 per cent on the back and only 15 per cent on the chest. Acne in younger patients is accompanied by seborrhea. This is a kind of a lesion, which is not inflammatory in nature.

There are two types of acne vulgaries one is a mild form of it, which includes the appearance of few red spots or pimples mostly on the face. The severe form of acne vulgaries not only covers the individual’s face but also the neck, chest and back with more than hundreds of pimples. There are cases when acnes are accompanied by cysts; these are red lumps on the body that can be painful at times.

There are a number of reasons that leads to acne. Here are the four most common pathphysiological reasons for the growth of acne. These are the follicular plugging, hyperactive sebaceous glands, proliferation of the sebaceous follicles with the bacteria and inflammation.

The term acne vulgaries includes all types of growth on the skin that can be termed as acne. This includes comedone, which is commonly known as a whitehead and blackhead. These may or may not have inflammation. The other form is papules and pustules; these are raised bumps on the skin with inflammation.

Acne mostly starts to appear on our skin with the onset of puberty, this is the time when the body goes through a lot of hormonal changes, which at times result in the skin becoming oily. One of the most important steps to avoid acne is to not use oily skin products, which can lead to further blocking of the pores.

The appearance of acne on the skin is not known but we can avoid it by follwing some simple preventive measures. If you are prone to acne then the individual should keep his or her skin clean. The main idea is to avoid cosmetic products that lead to the clogging of the pores. This can be avoided by reading the label of the product you are using and the skin type it suits. Ideally the products which say noncomedogenic are useful in keeping acne at bay and specially formulated for the oily skin.

These are a few things, which you should keep in mind to avoid having acne vulgaries. There is a school of thought, which believes that people who suffer from acne vulgaries mostly take an improper diet and have a stressful life. This can be avoided as good food and good sleep are essential to good skin.

If you perspire easily then have a bath immediately after a heavy activity. As perspiration makes the skin oily and helps the bacteria to thrive in further hence helping the growth of acne further. Those prone to acne should try and keep their hair from falling on their face. You should also avoid direct contact with sunlight. These steps help in not only preventing acne but helps in keeping the present one from getting worse.

Mild acne can be treated with some special acne creams that are available in the drug store near you. If you suffer from a severe problems of acne then there are chances that a cream or ointment may just not work for you. If you do not get relief from these products then it is time to consult a doctor as you may require some specially formulated medicines for your skin. There are numerous treatments there now, which are beneficial for different kinds of acne.

There are times when acne can leave some scars behind. The two most common methods to remove the scars that are caused by acne are to get the scar tissue removed by your doctor. You can also get a shot collagen, the collagen plumps the skin underneath the scar, which does not leave any mark on the skin.
