Acne is formed when the sebaceous glands start to produce more of sebum. These causes the pores to clog, the clogged pores allow the bacteria to thrive in it causing the acne. Acne is worse in young boys.

There is an amalgamation of reasons, which make the acne go from bad to worse. Acne if not treated properly can lead to infection, which can take the shape of pustules and cysts in some cases, causing pain.

One of best ways to control acne is to use a product constituting of benzoyl peroxide. There are different strengths of benzoyl peroxide used to cater to various acne problems. There are a lot of creams, gel, soaps and pads available in the market, which contains benzoyl peroxide.

The above concoction has to be used once a day but there are times in some cases where they are used twice a day. Benzoyl peroxide can be bought without a prescription as well. It just has to be dabbed on the effected area. It can leave marks on your clothes so one has to be careful.

Tretinoin is also very effective drug against acne. Some of the Tretinoin drugs readily available in the market are Retin-A and Stevia-A. This is mostly rubbed into the skin once during the day. If you start using this do not be disappointed at the results. In most of the cases it takes several weeks before it starts to work.

Most of the Tretinoin lotion, creams and gel can give you a sun burn. You should try and pick a product, which has a strong sunscreen in it. One has to remember that while using Tretinoin that it should not be made to come in contact with the eyes, mouth and on the upper lip.

The other common method for acne control can be found in antibiotics. These can be oral medicines or can be found in creams, gels and lotions. The latter have to applied on the affected area of the skin. There are times that the external application is not beneficial in these cases oral medication is given.

In the most severe cases of acne a dose of isotretinoin is given to the individual. The more common name for this drug is Accutane. It is also been found that most of the acne sufferers have a lack of Vitamin A in the body. This can be substituted by various foods or buy taking a supplement of the vitamin. This vitamin helps in reducing the scars as well.

The other vitamins which are extremely beneficial for acne prone skin includes Vitamin C, it increases the resistance part of the body and is extremely beneficial for the skin.. The other important vitamin is Vitamin E, this acts as an anti oxidant. This helps the skin to be rejuvenated.

Zinc as a mineral is an excellent mineral to keep the acne at bay. It helps in stimulation of the body’s enzymes and gives a stronger immunity. Oysters are known to have a high zinc content in them though they cannot be taken regularly. One can have them occasionally.

There are different kinds of acne, when a follicle is plugged with sebum and skin cells a whitehead results on the surface. When this reaches the surface and it comes in contact with air it causes a blackhead. There are times when a plugged follicle breaks and the area gets inflamed and turn into a pimple. In some cases the wall of the pimple breaks and disappears under the skin. This leads to the formation of cyst.
