acneprevention1Acne Vulgaries can affect both men and women. It has been found that acne is more erratic in women than men. Acne is caused when dead skin and excessive oil block the pores of the skin, which helps the bacteria to thrive on the surface of the skin, which results in acne. This condition is very common among women as there are a lot of hormonal fluctuations in the body. The hormonal imbalances make the body produce sebum, which facilitates acne.

There are almost 60 to 70 percent women who complain of acne in their pre menstruation cycle. It is not necessary that acne will be caused in a woman in her teens only. It can affect her even in her 20s and 30s as well. Acne can continue in a woman all through her life. The occurrence of acne is very common in women during pregnancy and menopause.

Researchers believe that acne, is mostly caused by hormonal imbalances. They start appearing the in their mid 20s. The hormonal acnes are mostly caused by the production of androgens, which stimulate the oil glands and the hair follicles that is present in the skin.

There are a lot of women who experience acne in the beginning of their pregnancy. This mostly happens because of the hormonal fluctuations that the body goes through during this phase. There are times that women experience acne again in post pregnancy when there are hormonal changes in the body.

Acne during the premenstrual cycle is very a common occurrence. During the premenstrual cycle the body produces excessive oil as the androgens are stimulated. Hence the appearance of acne during this time is very common.

Women who are going through their menopause are also affected by acne. The reasons remain the same as in the earlier causes the body goes through lot of hormonal imbalances, which results in acne.

There are times when the hormonal acne can also trigger irregular menstrual cycle, diabetes, obesity and times it can also cause infertility among women. If you suffer form any of these problems then do consult a doctor so that the required blood tests can be conducted and the problem can be solved by antibiotics to prevent further complications.

According to some recent studies smoking in women can also trigger acne. This may come as a surprise to many people as smoking has always been associated with diseases like lung cancer and other respiratory problems. Acne is a common occurrence among women who smoke.

There are some researchers in Italy who have found that among women smokers the non inflammatory acne is the most commonly found. They have also been termed as smoking acnes. These include acnes that result from blocked pores and resemble large blackheads.

If you have suffered from acne in your teens then your chances of suffering from acne in your adulthood as a smoker is almost four times than any other non smoker.

There are a number of treatments available now to keep that acne from reoccurring again. In some women birth control pills can also cause the acne to flare up. If this happens then remember to consult your gynecologist. She can suggest you a birth control pill that will help you to keep the androgen level in your body to a lower level thus discouraging the occurrence of acne. You have to keep this in mind that once you leave the pill then the acne will again appear on the skin.

There are a number of over the counter products available in the market today, which can be applied on the affected area. There are some, which claim to get rid of the acne in under 48 hours. If the over the counter drugs do not work for you then you can go for prescription drugs as well after consulting a doctor. Sprionolactone is a very common acne drug that is prescribed to women. These are helpful in reducing the androgen level in the body. This most of the times is the main cause of acne occurrence among women.

In cystic acne insotretinoin is mostly prescribed to the patient. If you have an acne prone skin then remember that the face needs to be washed gently and one has to remember not to use the hard exfoliaters as this can cause the skin to be irritated further. One should keep this in mind in the premenstrual cycle, as this will give you lesser break outs.

Glycolic acid is also very helpful in treating acne. It can be easily found in soaps, creams and lotions in different strengths. One has to keep it in mind that when one is using acne products, one should always use sunscreen when going out as acne can make the skin sensitive at times.
